As a Payroll and Benefits Specialists, your responsibilities include:
* Takes start-to-finish responsibility for payroll results, with primary responsibility for client-facing activities including customer service, payroll processing, and banking;
* Ensures that client policies are being administered correctly in relation to the processing on the employees pay;
* Processes multiple payrolls of varying complexity, across multiple provinces and payroll cycles, high volume of hourly/positive paid employees, multiple business numbers, union payrolls with multiple collective agreements, commission pay and commission taxation, multiple pension plans, benefits, timesheet import, and preparation of Registers and Journals;
* Verifies payroll edits/reports and balances the payrolls prior to submission with an eye for detail and quality;
* Evaluates improvements to business processes and client setups, and works with team to implement the required changes;
* Responds to calls from multiple customers and/or their employees, delivering superior customer service;
* Coordinates/communicates information with the Operations and Sales Managers regarding changes or new services required;
* Provides support to our Finance team to analyze and reconcile government statements and remittances from CCRA, MRQ, all provincial Workers Compensation and all Provincial Health Care Plans for each of the multiple locations that they service; and
* Processes Year End functions to meet legislative requirements.
Qualifications:
* 5+ years experience with multiple/complex Payroll environments, using sophisticated HRMS software like ADP, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, SAP, DLGL or High Line is required;
* Advanced payroll experience in multiple payroll environments including union, commission and expatriate payrolls, payroll balancing and Year End processes;
* Multiple province payroll processing is required;
* Proven Year End experience with CRA, MRQ, and all provincial filings;
* College diploma and CPA Level 2 is preferred; and
* Experience with one of Time & Labour software, Benefits or HR Administration preferred
